Parkers Chrysler and Janet Parker donate $30,900 to Discovery House.

Updated: Nov 5, 2019

The donation is the largest the two have donated to Discovery House.

Parkers Chrysler and Janet Parker collectively raised and donated $30,900 to Discovery House, a intergrated rehabilitation program of recovery for men.

“We are overwhelmed by the $30,900 donation. We had no idea it would be such a generous amount,” said Jerome Abraham, the executive director of Discovery House.

Parkers Chrysler raised $5,900 during their September Fundraiser for Discovery House by committing $100 for every vehicle sold during that month.

Janet Parker, mother of the late Colin Parker who struggled with addictions, added to her dealership’s fundraising efforts with a personal cheque for Discovery House in the amount of $10,000 while Parkers Chrysler donated an additional $15,000 for a total donation of $30,900.

“We cannot bring Colin back but if we can help another mother and family avoid this tremendous lost, then we will do whatever we can. Organizations like Discovery House need the community’s full support to help those who suffer from addiction” said Janet Parker.

“With the opioid overdose epidemic, continual fundraising is key for Discovery House to keep their doors open to men in crisis” said Jim Tabler, general manager of Parkers Chrysler, in a news release. “Penticton is lucky to have Discovery House to help men get clean and sober so they can return to their families, and we will continue to help however we can.”
