The Chopper of Hope – A Tribute to Recovery and Resilience

The Chopper of Hope is more than just a custom motorcycle — it’s a rolling symbol of strength, sobriety, and second chances.

The vision for this project was born from a place of deep loss and profound inspiration. In 2024, Discovery House lost its former Executive Director, Jerome Abraham, to cancer. Shortly after his passing, long-time friends and motorcycle enthusiasts Darrell Richards (Sinister Speed Co.) and Jim Hart (Discovery House Board Member and owner of Slimz Brand Barber Lounge — better known as Jimmy Slimz) began discussing how best to honor Jerome’s legacy.

They envisioned a bike that would stand as a beacon of hope for men in recovery — a machine that would be built by those walking the road to sobriety.

A Build Fueled by Purpose

Led by Darrell as the head builder, and supported by Jimmy Slimz, 12 men in the early stages of recovery rolled up their sleeves to make it happen. Over 4.5 months, they transformed a bare frame into a stunning, one-of-a-kind chopper. Every wrench turn, weld, and polish wasn’t just about the bike — it was about rebuilding lives.

With approximately $50,000 in parts and countless hours of dedication, the Chopper of Hope emerged with an estimated value of $75,000, but its true worth lies in the hands and hearts that built it.
